Tikis Bar and Grill, Waikiki

While in Honolulu, we also ate at a newer Tiki Bar called Tikis Bar and Grill. We usually eat here at least once every time we stay at Waikiki. It's a great restaurant, with good food, well made drinks and lots of tikis. It also has a great view as it's right across the street from Waikiki Beach. On the downside, it is a bit expensive.

Tikis is a modern take on the classic tiki bar although the modern definitely outshines the classic here. Lots of Shag paintings and modern looking tikis.
We had the Coconut shrimp appetizer, which was really good. Before dinner they also serve purple taro rolls with vanilla banana butter. These rolls alone are worth the trip. For our main course I had Sea Scallops and my wife had the Macadamia encrusted Mahi Mahi. The Mahi Mahi was good but the Sea Scallops were a little disappointing. The scallops themselves were pretty good but the sauce it was served with just wasn't that good.
Like I said earlier, it's a bit pricey. For our appetizer, 2 meals and dessert, with no alcoholic drinks our tab came to an even $100 with the tip. I considered it a bit of indulgence that was worth the price. You can get by for less if you take advantage of their happy hour specials or Tuesday night taco specials. While leaving we stoped at their gift shop. I bought the green tiki mug on the left.

  1. A more modern tiki restaurant, but it looks awesome! The food sounds divine as well!

  2. What a blast! Besides having a great grasp of perspective, what a great…grasp of perspective…such artists have to pour so much heart into something so ephemeral.
